Westlake Girls High School Cantare Choir competed in the ASPIRE International 3 Day Youth Music Festival held in Brisbane in mid-July. This festival is open to all secondary school and attracted a number of music groups from New Zealand and Australia. Cantare won their female voice (Choir) category which put them into the evening Gala concert where the top group from each of the 5 categories (Symphony Orchestra, String Orchestra, Concert Band, Jazz Band and Choir) then performs for the top overall Award, The John Curro Award for Best Performance. Cantare gave a stunning recital at the Gala concert to take out this top award as well.
