Westlake Winners

Volleyball win New Zealand title

After winning the Auckland Secondary Schools Volleyball Championships a few weeks ago, the Premier Westlake Girls High School Volleyball team went to the New Zealand Secondary Schools Championship that were held in Palmerston North in late March looking to defend the New Zealand title they won at this tournament last year. The team did exceptionally well, winning all their games to retain the New Zealand Secondary Schools Volleyball title. They beat Otumoetai College 3-1 in the final. Four Westlake team members were selected for the tournament team, they were Kaila Ru-Tearoiti, Rachael Webster, Tamara Otene and Emme Shearer (all Year 13). Emme was also named as the Most Valuable player of all the students present from the 95 teams at the tournament.
