Junior Badminton wins New Zealand Championships

The Westlake Girls Junior Badminton team competed at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Junior Badminton Championships which were held at the North Shore Badminton Centre in late November. The team did extremely well, winning the Gold Medal for 1^st Place. It was a very closely fought competition. The Westlake team had 3 wins and an extremely close loss to Macleans College in the first day of the tournament (3-3 on matches, 7-7 on games and Westlake lost 231-257 on points) but wins in the remainder of pool play put Westlake, Macleans and Avondale even on points. However both Westlake and Avondale had a higher but identical match score for the tournament and then on a countback Westlake had a total competition game score one higher than Avondale to take out the top place and win the New Zealand title.
