Elys Ventura (Year 12) won the latest tournament in the International Tennis Federation Junior Championship which was held in Auckland in early October. Elys had made it to the semi-finals stage of four of the previous ITF tournaments this year, which in itself is a fine achievement. At the Auckland tournament, even though she was Third Seed, she beat the Top Seed from Australia in the final by 6-4, 6-1. Remarkably, Elys did not drop a single set in the six matches she played over the whole tournament.
