Every year the Home Economics and Technology Teachers’ Association of New Zealand run a Fashion Awards competition for students from Years 7 – 13. There are five different categories students can enter into. Guest judges looked over all the entries and two Westlake Girls students have just be announced as having won Awards. They are Ella Brewer (Year 10) who came 1st in the Fashion: Year 9-10 Junior Technical Fashion category (with her hand made wool coat garment) and Chantelle Reilly (Year 13) who received a Highly Commended in the Fashion: Years 11-13 Senior Creative Fashion category with her Flamenco Costume made from upcycled rye grass sacks.
