Cycling

Cycling at Westlake Girls comprises both Road and Mountain Biking with each discipline offering both a competitive and social focus for students. Cycling provides elements of individual performance and also a strong team performance across a series of events for Road and Mountain Biking. Students have the opportunity to try each discipline in fun ‘Give-it-a-Go’ activities as well as join a team in Term 1.

Students enter the school programme in Year 9 and will compete through the age groups as they progress to Year 13. Cycling requires a high level of self-motivation and self-discipline, particularly on winter mornings. It also teaches students to be organised as well as a number of other life skills like resilience, confidence and social engagement. The school’s coaches will provide education, and train and guide them through the competitions and events.
