Year 11 student Karmen Maritz was our standout performer at the NZSS Champs winning Gold in the Junior Girls Discus and Junior Girls Shot Put. She was selected for the NZSSAA Championship Team and awarded NZSSA Junior Girls Athlete of the 2023 Championship. Congratulations Karmen.

2024 ATHLETICS DAY – Friday 1 March

The Westlake Girls Athletics Day is an annual all school event and a major undertaking where everyone relocates to AUT Millennium Athletics Track, the home of North Harbour Athletics, for a day of fun. Students compete, participate, officiate or cheerlead to help their one to become the top HOUSE overall . There are two types of competitions on Athletics Day which are run separately, CHAMPIONSHIP or HOUSE. The CHAMPIONSHIP competition is for competitive athletes and helps to determine the school champions as well as the qualifiers for the regional championships. It will be held at the NORTH end of the track by the ENTRY GATE. The HOUSE events are focused on participation and having a go and will be run at the opposite end.

ALL STUDENTS must attend and enter at least 3 Championship or House events on the day. Every event earns 1 point but the CHAMPIONSHIP podium finishers will earn more. ALL YEAR 9 AND CYGNET STUDENTS MUST ENTER THE CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS . Other students can opt for either Championship or House events. The Competitive and House competitions are separate events. Parents are welcome to support on the day but we ask that they watch from the South bank, opposite the HOUSE TENTS and students.
