The KBB Band and Orchestra Festival was held in early Term 3. Schools from Hamilton to Whangarei send their top groups to this competition to compete in the various categories. Westlake groups performed extremely well, coming away with six medals.
The Westlake Symphony Orchestra received a Gold Award and Best Performance of a Romantic work, the Westlake Concert Band received a Gold Award and Best Performance of an Arranged Work and Pre-1950 work, the Westlake Big Band received a Gold Award, the Westlake Chamber Orchestra a Silver Award, the Taharoto Orchestra a Bronze Award and the Westlake Symphonic Band a Bronze Award.
