There are three regional Secondary Schools competitions plus the New Zealand Secondary Schools Championship in December that our top athletes can enter each year. Year 13, Sports Prefect for Pupuke, Karmen Maritz, is our top performer at school after winning gold in the Senior Girls Discus and Silver in the Shot put at the NZSS Champs this summer.

The Westlake Girls Athletics team is selected from Athletics Day on 21 February 2025, as well as from their independent club results. The team is managed by Jo Mersh, and they travel to the Harbour and Auckland Secondary Schools Champs together and independently to the North Island and New Zealand Champs in April and December, respectively.

The Westlake Girls Junior, Intermediate and Senior Athletics Champions are determined by their performances at the school Athletics Day only so please register for at least 3 Athletics Day events if you wish to be considered for the team.

Auckland Secondary Schools Championships – 18 & 20 March 2025 (Qualifiers only from Zone events) – Mount Smart Stadium (TBC)
North Island Secondary Schools – 5-6 April 2025 (Hamilton)
New Zealand Secondary Schools Championship – 5-7 December 2025 (Hastings)
