Distance Running

If you are not afraid of a little bit of dirt and mud, and enjoy getting out amongst nature, then Cross Country might be the sport for you! The Cross-Country season runs from April through to August and involves challenging races of various distances over public parks, reserves and sometimes even farms. Westlake Girls also competes in Road Race which varies in distances from 3 km through to 10 km on both the regional and national platform.

2024 SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY DAY – Friday 5 April

The school Cross Country is compulsory for Year 9 students. Throughout the day Year 9’s will run the course around the school during their P.E classes. The Year 10 and Senior students will be asked to run their races during Period 3.
The cross country course is 3 km long and will be marshalled by staff and prefects. This event will determine the Junior, Intermediate and Senior School Cross Country Champions for 2024.

Various Important Info

Y9 and 10 Students finish early this Thursday.

On the afternoon of Thursday, 21 November, there will be a PPTA Paid Union Meeting for teachers. As a result, Year 9 and 10 students will finish at 12:30 pm, and no classes will run for them in the afternoon.

Students in Years 11, 12, and 13 sitting NCEA exams will not be affected. Exams will continue as scheduled.

If you wish your child to be supervised at school on that afternoon, please contact the school so that arrangements can be made.

Library : Open from 8:00-5:00. All students on study leave can study in the library including. Y9s. The library is a silent study zone from Tuesday, 5 Nov to Thursday, 29 Nov.
