This is the first year that Westlake Girls was represented on the Motocross platform and it was hugely successful. The young team of four Year 9 & Year 10 students, competed throughout the year in the National Battle of the Schools Series across the country. In the final race of the series in Whangarei, they impressed all by finishing in 2nd place overall for the season. The talented young riders were pipped at the post by Tauranga Boys. Earlier in the season, the team combined strongly to win the North Island Secondary Schools Championship to set their year alight. The dirt-bike racing sport is where riders carve berms and fly high over jumps and these students are very fortunate to have highly supportive parents to help navigate this rapidly growing sport.
