The School’s rock climbing team is mighty and growing. Eight students represented WGHS at the Auckland College Climbing (ACC) Series, and two students competed at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Climbing Cup. We had some great results from the team last year:
Bailey Welch – 2nd overall, Junior Girls ACC Series
Amaya Tan-Peters – 3rd overall, Senior Girls ACC Series
Westlake Girls – 3rd overall, School Points ACC Series
Amaya Tan-Peters – finalist, College Sport Awards
We’re hoping to continue to grow the team for 2025!

The Auckland College Climbing Series takes place over four dates at various climbing gyms around the city. No experience is necessary to join, and the event entry fee includes harness and shoe hire for those that require them.

Round 1 Top Rope – 6 April (Extreme Edge)
Round 2 Boulder – 18 May (Northern Rocks)
Round 3 Top Rope – 15 June (Vertical Adventures, Glen Eden),
Round 4 Boulder – 10 August (Boulder Co)

NZSS Climbing Cup – 25-27 Aug

FEES

$30 per event or
$95 for full series (paid before first event)
NZSS Climbing Cup fees TBC
