Waka Ama

Westlake Girls returned to the sport of Waka Ama in November and the young team showed great potential at the Auckland Secondary Schools Junior Championships. After just four weeks of training, guided by their experienced and charismatic coach, Sugar Te Paa from the Taniwha Outrigger Canoe Club, the two Year 10 teams showed natural aptitude and competitive edge in their novice season. Now as Year 11’s and Seniors, it’s time to take it up another level.
